Case Study:
Direct Mail Postcard Series Brings New Business to Local PR Agency

At MJB Public Relations Group, we practice what we preach.

Since MJB was formed in 2002, the majority of our clients have represented the credit union community – a natural niche for an agency whose management has a combined 36 years’ experience in the industry, established relationships with credit union leaders and a history of working with members of the credit union trade press. However, we knew the same expertise and personal services used successfully with credit unions would fit well with small and mid-sized businesses in the local community. We just needed to get the word out.

So, we set a goal to expand MJB’s local client base and establish a stronger presence in the business community. Our method? Direct mail, a cost-effective, proven marketing tactic used to successfully promote products and build name recognition. Not only would a postcard mailing meet our budget and help achieve our goal, it would allow us to showcase MJB’s creativity, design capabilities and writing skills.

MJB developed the copy and graphic design for a series of postcards, each highlighting different aspects of the agency’s expertise areas: marketing communications, presentations/speech writing, and graphic design. The postcards were created to have a similar look and feel, both in terms of copy and design, and were distributed to businesses throughout the local community.

Our results? MJB generated new business from within the local community, adding new client billings of nearly $23,000 in just the first six months.
